Calabasas Game and a Family Reunion Weekend

We enjoyed a very good week of practice in preparation for the Coyotes as we wanted to keep our very positive season rolling along. Although we are both in the Marmonte League, this was a matchup of ML East and ML West squads.

In from beautiful North Las Vegas, Nevada for the weekend were Andy, Jenn and Kevin Contreras . . . YAHOO!!!!!!

Here they watch the start of the game with Vanessa and Jacob Contreras . . . in-laws and cousins together again.

Jonas Mello gets things started

In limited action, Jonas had 10 carries for 103 yards and two first quarter TDs.

Jonas was also a perfect six for six on PATs and had two of his Kickoffs sail into the end zone for touchbacks

He just scored on a second quarter TD reception from his twin brother Erich that covered 12 yards.

At the half, the Panthers led 42-6. There would be no scoring in the second half as we cleared the bench and used a running clock.

The Contreras Clan Together Again

Laurie's cousin Linda Neumeier took this picture. Linda was at the game with her husband Gary in support of their son-in-law who is the Athletic Director at Calabasas H.S.

The Final Score was 42-6 in favor of the Panthers. We are now 4-1-1 overall and still 1-0 in the Marmonte League East.

Calabasas dropped to 0-6 and was still 0-1 in the Marmonte League West.

Next up for the Panthers is a very talented squad from Westlake H.S. The high scoring Warriors are 6-0 overall and lead our Marmonte League East division with a 2-0 record.

Now the real weekend fun began.

We were all set to watch the TV College Game-of-the-Day, Oregon (5-0) at Washington (4-1) in all of our purple splendor.

The cousins were not all that focused on the game.

The Huskies lost to Oregon for the tenth consecutive year by a final tally of 45-24.
