Another College Football Saturday

University of La Verne
(2-5, 2-3 S.C.I.A.C.)
at
California Lutheran University
(5-2, 3-1 S.C.I.A.C.)

Brian FitzGerald, my son Mike and I decided to drive 20 minutes up to Thousand Oaks to see a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (S.C.I.A.C.) game between La Verne and Cal Lu.

For Mike and I, it was our second Cal Lu game this season and I really like the atmosphere and intensity of these N.C.A.A. Division III games!

Cal Lutheran's Picturesque Mt. Clef Stadium

An Old Mosaic outside the Kingsmen's Athletic Offices

This dates to the days when they were still California Lutheran College back in the 1970's.

This Mosaic faces the football field and ties into CLU's football program with their religious heritage.

Cal Lu's Offense in the purple jerseys.

CLU Defensive Coordinator Scott Beattie motivating the Kingsmen!

Scott grew up in Camarillo and played Pop Warner football with Brian on the original Camarillo Roadrunners team in 1968!

#42 Fernando Raigoza
2008 Rio Mesa H.S. Graduate

Fernando is a GREAT kid and made an excellent solo tackle on this kickoff.

Half Time

During half time of every football game in America, at every level, a pickup football game invariably starts up on the game field while the two teams are in their locker rooms making adjustments for the second half. Today was no different!

New CLU Athletic Facilities

Recently, CLU has built new softball and baseball stadiums to the left, a huge new gymnasium in the middle and is starting work on a new soccer/track stadium in the foreground.

These are dynamic times in the CLU Athletic Department!

FINAL SCORE:
Cal Lutheran 37 - La Verne 3
